Update: Sources tell us that as of 8:45 the Lockdown has been lifted.
Reports of an armed person in one of the buildings on Naval Air Station Corpus Christi have prompted the base to go on lockdown and enact a shelter in place protocol.
The incident occured between 7:00 and 7:30 in Building 8, witnesses told the South Texas Journal. Initially, they were told that a person with a gun was “running around” and then that it was an active shooter situation in the same building.
Texas A&M-Corpus Christi issued a Code Blue alert saying the following:
“NAS-CC is currently on lock down but the situation is contained and poses no risk to the Island Campus. If we receive further information, we will update as necessary.”
This is a developing story.
