Lawmakers sent out a request on Monday to the Texas Windstorm Insurance Association and The Texas Department of Insurance asking them to postpone a planned meeting of the TWIA Actuarial and Underwriting Committee that is scheduled to take place on March 23 in Austin.

“Due to public safety and health concerns this meeting should not go forward especially with many other closings and rescheduling of meetings,” the request said.

As of Monday evening TWIA’s John Polak sent a message back to the lawmakers saying that “we agree that postponing the Actuarial and Underwriting Committee is appropriate and consistent with the need to protect our employees, policyholders and stakeholders. We will reconsider scheduling the meeting when we are certain that it is safe and advisable to convene the committee.”

The request was sent to TDI Commissioner Sullivan and TWIA boss John Polak by State Senators Hinojosa, Kolkhorst and Zaffirini along with Representatives Hunter, Herrero, Lozano and Morrison.
