So far there have been at least 222 reported cases of COVID-19 in Texas as of March 18, with three deaths from the disease at this stage.
On Monday, we learned that the state’s first death was along the Texas Gulf Coast in Matagorda County. The state’s second death was reported Tuesday night in Tarrant County. A third death was reported Wednesday afternoon from Collin County.
The cases in the state include confirmed cases and presumptive positive cases, which means a patient has tested positive for the virus at a local public health laboratory, but those results are pending CDC confirmation.
The youngest coronavirus patient in Texas is a three-year-old living in Collin County, near Dallas. The oldest patient was the man who died, who was in his 90s. He was from Matagorda County.
So far here in our area we have only one confirmed case of COVID-19 and that is in Webb County.
Drive-thru testing has just now reached Nueces County and is set to begin on Thursday to selected individuals.
